Breast milk is an amazing living liquid chock-full of thousands of bioactive components.

This vast array of biologically active components impact a child’s short and long-term health (read my last blog-post on this fascinating subject).

Now another super-amazing component of human milk has been identified — this component seems to boost a baby’s brain function, or in more scientific language, it “promotes neuronal connectivity”.

Why is this important? Because connections between neurons form the physical basis for communication in the brain.

So which component of human milk?

Researchers from the Yale School of Medicine have found that human milk contains a small cyclic sugar molecule called myo-inositol.

Myo-inositol is usually found in a typical adult diet, including in fruits and grains.
