  • 80% of time was spent in “sacrum non-flexible positions” during the last 24 hours before childbirth.
  • Over 90% of women gave birth in “sacrum non-flexible positions.”

Sacrum non-flexible positions are birthing positions that put weight on the sacrum and restrict the movement of the coccyx.

Examples of non-flexible sacrum positions:

  • Lying on your back
  • Semi-recumbent (lying back but with upper body elevated)
  • Lithotomy (lying back with knees bent, raised above hips)
  • Sitting in bed
