New Study: Is colostrum expressed BEFORE birth the same as colostrum produced AFTER birth?
Colostrum is the first milk produced by the mother’s mammary glands.
It is a thick, yellowish fluid that is nutrient-dense (even in tiny doses). Colostrum is high in proteins, fats and micronutrients, plus it contains many immunological components, antibodies, and human milk oligosaccharides (more on these later).
This blog-article is about the potential benefits of expressing colostrum BEFORE birth, and explains some fascinating new research!

About Harvesting Colostrum
Expectant mothers can start to produce colostrum early — starting between 12 and 18 weeks of pregnancy.
Colostrum harvesting describes when an expectant mother expresses and collects breast milk BEFORE the birth.
Expressing milk in pregnancy can ensure new parents have a readily available supply of highly nutritious colostrum to give a baby immediately after birth.
