What is stopping parents from initiating breastfeeding?
I asked our community of wise birth and breastfeeding professionals what are some of the biggest “blocks” that are stopping parents from initiating breastfeeding. I was shocked by some of the answers.

When I was pregnant 14 years ago, I really wanted a vaginal birth and to exclusively breastfeed.
In the event, I had an emergency C-section.
When I struggled to breastfeed, I was pressured to give my newborn baby infant formula — within an hour of her birth.
It still haunts me now. If only I had known then what I know now. If only I had known about the science that supports exclusive breastfeeding…
I wondered if things have changed in modern times with regards to attitudes to initiation of breastfeeding.
